Scuba diving in the Maldives
Maldives - Islands of Splendor
Experience
Maldives live-aboard diving in one of the most beautiful underwater
paradises the Indian Ocean has to offer.
The Maldives is made up of over 1000 small coral islands, scattered
across 90 000 square kilometers of the Indian ocean and offers
travelers the perfect opportunity to escape busy city life and
take a “Sea-fari “ across numerous atolls on a seven
day journey of colour, excitement and adventure.
Live-aboard diving is exactly what the name suggests. Divers
are accommodated upon a luxury motor yacht and transported to
the dive sites, most of which cannot be accessed by the land
based resorts, by the accompanying dive dohni.
The motor yacht is a fully equipped floating hotel. The fan-cooled
cabins have ample cupboard and bed space for all travelers, single
or sharing. The en-suite bathrooms have running water, showers,
hand basins and flushable toilets. The large saloon area can
be used for entertainment purposes or as a place to unwind in
the evenings after a full days diving. The kitchen is fully equipped
to serve up three full meals, a mixture of local as well as European
cuisine, daily. Tea and coffee are on offer 24 hours a day and
fresh coconut or biscuits are enjoyed after each dive. Each guest
will NEED TO TAKE A 1 LITRE SPORTS BOTTLE FOR COLD WATER EACH
DAY. de-salinated water available by the litre throughout the
tour. The yachts fully stocked bar also offers cold drinks, beer,
draught beer and spirits at an extra charge.
Dining is a festive event and usually takes place on one of the
ships large, open, spacious decks.
A dive dhoni shadows the yacht to all the locations the divers
visit. The dohni houses the compressor as well as all the divers
gear. Once kitted the dive gear does not leave the dohni unless
to explore some of the most beautifully kept underwater playgrounds
in the world. During air fills, the dohni slips back a couple
of hundred meters so that the hum of the generator does not disturb
guests.
The dohni also carries guests to and from the inhabited islands
as well as some of the uninhabited islands between dives. Non-divers
can also enjoy the pleasures of snorkeling, fishing sunbathing
and swimming off the dohni, making a trip to the Maldives an
exciting adventure for all. Not only divers, but partners and
children .
The route of the trip is individually arranged between the guests,
dive master and captain ensuring that you will discover the best
of what the Maldives has to offer.
The warm waters and excellent visibility attract divers from
all over the world to see the fish life on display. This is a
marvel that has to be experienced.
Jacks, snappers, sweetlips, triggers, Indian banners and tunny
are a few of the more commonly spotted examples. Whale sharks,
dolphins, stingray, spotted eagles, dogtooth tuna, barracuda,
hammerheads, white tip and grey reef sharks WILL BE SEEN ON THE
DIVES.
We invite you to join us in experiencing the Maldives – islands
of splendor, where a team of experienced and passionate people
will cater for your every need. The package includes all flights,
airport taxes, transfers, accommodation, meals, two to three
